Project Overview
In response to the province’s growing push toward sustainable transportation, NL Hydro launched a project to build out foundational EV charging infrastructure across Newfoundland and Labrador. Talon Energy was awarded the contract to execute a large portion of this rollout, helping to bring EV charging access to both urban and rural communities.
The initiative was part of a broader government-backed effort to increase the province’s readiness for electric vehicles and reduce transportation-related emissions.
Our Role
Talon Energy was responsible for:
- Site assessment and utility coordination
- Installation of Level 2 and DC fast charging stations
- Trenching, cabling, and power integration
- Safety checks and performance testing
- Final handover and public readiness
Talon worked closely with NL Hydro and local authorities to complete the installations on time, with minimal service disruption and full regulatory compliance.
Impact & Innovation
This project laid the groundwork for Newfoundland and Labrador’s emerging EV network. By enabling long-distance travel across the island via fast and reliable public chargers, it made EV ownership more viable and attractive for residents and businesses.
As one of Talon Energy’s first major green energy projects, it also signaled the company’s long-term commitment to sustainable infrastructure and clean technology solutions.
